Ellis, Robert E CIV USARMY AWC (US)

Dear Colleague:

Please forgive the email so soon after sending out yesterday's article, "Rejection of the 'Peace' accord with the FARC: What's Next for Colombia."  but I am writing to bring two items to your attention.

First, the new book edited by Riordan Roett and Guadalupe Paz, "Latin America and the Asian Giants: Evolving Ties with China and India" is now officially published, including a new work of mine, "The Security Dimension of Chinese and Indian Engagement in the Americas."  Although publisher restrictions do not allow me to share the chapter with you in this email, for those who follow Latin America's engagement with Asia, I highly recommend the book.  It is one of the first serious scholarly works in the Western press that examines Indian engagement in Latin America, alongside much good new material regarding Chinese activities in the region.

The link to the book on the Brookings Institution website which published it is:

Second, I am happy to let you know that the e-journal Indrastra has republished yesterday's article on Colombia that Dr. Roman Ortiz and I co-wrote.  I am providing the link for our colleagues outside the U.S. who wish to access the article online, but who are not able to reach the U.S. Army War College website:

I want to thank Rose McReid and her team at Indrastra, who as always, have been incredibly responsive, and who have done an excellent job with the layout and graphics for the article.

Again, thank you very much for the opportunity to be in touch through this medium.

Respectfully,

Evan Ellis
