Park Attends China Parade September 07 12:18 2015 By Kristen Mcgee The 10th China-Northeast Asia Expo in Changchun, the capital city of China's Jilin province that shares a border with North Korea, drew hundreds of companies from South Korea, North Korea, China, Russia, Mongolia and Japan. The Japanese leaders will start working with their counterparts in Beijing and Seoul to set a schedule for the proposed summit, NHK news agency reported. According to a senior Foreign Ministry official, "There are no fears that the series of events [in Beijing on Thursday] will send Japan-China relations backward". Park's sixth summit meeting with Xi highlighted the growing ties between the neighbours, as China has grown increasingly frustrated with North Korea. But those meetings have not been held for over three years. "This will make it hard for North Korea to stage additional provocations", said Nam Kwang-gyu, a professor at Seoul-based Korea University. "I hope that the hardships the two countries went through in the last century will be a valued foundation of the friendship between the two countries, as well as the basis for closer bilateral cooperation to solve many challenges we face", she said. Apparently expressing its discomfort over their summit, the North's powerful National Defence Commission issued a statement saying that the South should refrain from "words and actions" that could dampen the mood for improving cross-border relations. SEOUL - South Korea said it agreed with China to seek a three-way summit with Japan late next month or early November in a step towards easing tensions in the region. Although it is officially a closed country, a steady stream of desperate souls attempt to cross into South Korea or China in search of a better life. Still, North Korea has long suspected that Seoul could be plotting to absorb Pyongyang, a claim denied by South Korea. She received a conspicuously warm reception in China from President Xi Jinping, who treated her to a special lunch. Jin: Park's attendance at China's military review was a very bold diplomatic move. But the fact that the songs, which include propaganda classics such as "Glory to the Dear Leader" and "Living well in the People's Paradise", could be sung in the South was nearly as "shocking" as the North's nuclear weapons programme, Hong's office said in a statement. Park travels to Beijing next week, where she will seek President Xi Jinping's support for a trilateral summit soon with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Meanwhile, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has snubbed this week's celebrations, fueling suggestions of a fraying relationship with Pyongyang's traditional ally China - which as recently as the 1950s was fighting against South Korea and the US on the side of the North during the Korean War.
