At the end of last year, the
Chinese Communist Party held an important
two-day meeting of the powerful
25-member Politburo.
The meeting summarized the current times as a "once in a hundred
years"
period of great change, and that President Xi Jinping
has shown "superb
skill in the art of political
leadership" in handling the crisis. It also called
him the
"people's leader," a special title once used for Mao Zedong.
Why are the leaders lavishing over-the-top compliments on Xi? It seems
