2014 Plan of Programs for the Korean Studies Department
Continue running a variety of Korean Studies projects
To broaden understanding of Korea and its people throughout the global community, the Korea Foundation will continue to implement various support programs for Korean Studies at institutions worldwide, including the provision of assistance for Korean language and Korean Studies courses at universities, and offering various fellowship programs.
Build up Korean Studies in Eurasia
The Foundation plans to actively expand education and research related to Korea in the emerging countries of Eurasia, in line with the government’s foreign policy and diplomatic strategy for this region. Korea-related education will be boosted in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Central/South America through the dispatch of visiting professors, support for the hiring of local instructors/lecturers, and sponsorship of academic activities, fellowships, and workshops for educators.
Strengthen Korean Studies via online channels
The Foundation’s plans for 2014 call for further development of its online Korean Studies programs, inlcuding the KF Global e-School, in response to the continued expansion of IT infrastructure around the world. In this way, an increased number of courses, related to Korean culture and society, will be presented at leading universities in the regions of Asia, Europe, and Central/South America through the KF Global e-School program.
Training of Korean specialists
To further build up the infrastructure for Korean Studies abroad, the Foundation will organize comprehensive training programs for the development of Korea-related specialists in advanced and emerging countries, in order to enhance two-way communication and information sharing.
