SYMPOSIUM> Symposium on Ikkyû
Dear Colleagues,I post this message on behalf of my friend Didier Davin.
Best regards,
Nobumi Iyanaga
Tokyo, Japan
-------
Dear Colleagues,
My name is Didier Davin, at Tokyo Office of Ecole française d'Extrême-Orient. I am pleased to announce the organization of a conference on Ikkyû 一休 at Maison Franco-japonaise in Ebisu, Tokyo, on Sunday, November 15th, from 9:45 am to 6:00 pm.
This year, without any apparent reason, there are many events related to Ikkyû, the Rinzai Zen monk of the Muromachi period. One which is already finished is an exhibition titled "Ikkyû biyori" 一休日和 at Masaki Museum 正木美術館. From October 24th, there will be another exhibition at Gotô Museum 五島美術館 titled "Ikkyû: Tonchi-kozô no shôtai" 一休 -- とんち小僧の正体
( http://www.gotoh-museum.or.jp/exhibition/next.html ), and on this opportunity, a special issue of the journal Taiyô 別冊太陽 will be devoted to Ikkyû.
Thinking that it would be pity if no academic event were organized on Ikkyû, we, at Tokyo Office of EFEO, planned to organize this conference, with the title "Ikkyû towa nani-ka. Kono yôkai ni futatabi torikumu" 一休とは何か -- この妖怪に再び取り組む ("Qui est Ikkyû ? Nouvel affrontement avec le monstre" in French). Here is a link to its program:

<http://www.mfj.gr.jp/agenda/2015/11/15/20151115_ikkyu/index.php> in French
In the morning, there will be a keynote speech by Prof. Yoshizawa Katsuhiro 芳澤勝弘 of Hanazono University, followed by a dialogue between him and Prof. Ogawa Takashi of Komazawa University.
In the afternoon, there will be presentations by Dr. Yoshizawa Hajime 芳澤元 of JSPS, Dr. Yanai Kazuma 矢内一磨 of Museum of Sakai city, Prof. Iizuka Daiten 飯塚大展 of Kamazawa University, Prof. Horikawa Takashi 堀川貴司 of Keiô Unversity, Dr. Iijima Takayoshi 飯島孝良 of Tokyo University, and Didier Davin of EFEO Tokyo.
Although the event is open to public and is free, as the places are limited, it is recommended to make an early application. Here is the contact information:
