Asia Society's Center on U.S.-China
Relations and UC San Diego's 21st Century China Center last week
released a report by a task force of 20 former U.S.
government officials, scholars, and think tank researchers on how
President Donald
Trump can best approach the biggest challenges in the
U.S.-China relationship. In this video, co-chair of the report Orville Schell
describes the six most urgent recommendations.

crippling sanctions, North Korea has developed a nuclear weapons
program that may soon be capable of striking the continental United
States, thanks in large part to economic assistance from China. In an
interview with Asia
Blog, Syracuse University Professor James Steinberg

In the new novel Lotus, Chinese
author Zhang
Lijia portrays a rural migrant woman who winds up
working the world’s oldest profession in an urban massage parlor.
Though the novel is fiction, Zhang conducted research by spending
time with over 100 real life women working in China’s massive sex
industry. In an interview with Asia
Blog, she described how rural women end up in this
profession, what they’re up against, and why it’s “not just total
misery.”
