Purchase Adequate Travel and Medical Insurance
- If you have a health emergency or unexpected illness in the
United States, you are required to pay out of pocket unless you
have adequate insurance.
✓
Bring Layers of Clothing -
The IKRC Grand Canyon is located in Northern Arizona. At this time
of year, daytime temperatures are generally in the mid-70s (23°C)
with night time temperatures dropping to the low-40s (6°C).
✓
Bring Sun Protection - At almost 7000
ft (2100m), the sun is quite strong so you are advised to
bring sun protection - wear a hat outdoors, use sunscreen, lip balm
and wear sunglasses.
✓
Bring Close-Toed Shoes -
Parts of the Festival site are rugged with some of the walking
paths being unmanicured dirt roads. it is important to wear
appropriate footwear.
✓
Bring a Water Bottle - Because of the
altitude and strong sun, you are advised to stay hydrated. Bring a
water bottle and fill up at water stations around the festival
site. You can also purchase a water bottle in the Festival shop or
water from the snack shop and cafes.
✓
Bring a Flashlight - In the
evenings, it will be quite dark. Please use a flashlight to make
your way around the Festival site safely - especially those
who have booked onsite parking.
✓
For Campers - To prevent local wildlife from coming on the
Festival site or into your tent, please do not leave food or
trash in your tent. The ground can be quite rugged, please bring a
good sleeping mat and ground cover.
✓
Do Not use the Forest Trails -
The IKRC borders the Kaibab National Forest which is a very large
forest covering a total area of 1.6 million acres. There are many
unmarked and treacherous forest paths close to the IKRC and it
is very easy to get lost. It is also currently hunting season.
For these reasons, Festival
attendees are strongly requested not to walk in the forest.
Have
a very safe trip, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
