DDB/CJKV-E update report, September 2019
by A. Charles Muller
Dear Colleagues,
This month marks a major transition for
the DDB/CJKV-E project. As was announced early in September, our main technical
support person for almost two decades—Michael Beddow—recently passed away. We
will miss him dearly.
But I am happy to report that we have been
fortunate to be able to replace Michael with one of the most capable persons in
our field for this vitally important task. This is Paul Hackett, whose
combination of IT skills and mastery of Buddhist systems of thought, canons,
lexicography, and so forth, is matched only by a very small handful of
colleagues. We are greatly relieved to have been able to bring in to our team a
new member of such abilities, and we look forward to working with him for some
time to come. Paul is presently working out the kinks of an alternative/backup
site for the dictionaries, which we expect to be able to announce shortly.
As usual, I've uploaded the list of new
DDB and CJKV-E entries for September 2019. We have 63 new entries for the DDB
(Total: 73,286) and 17 for the CJKV-E (Total: 60,929)
Regards,
