Tibetan Buddhism

Dear Colleagues,

I am organizing a panel for the 54th annual meeting of the Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies (SEC/AAS), to be held January 16-18, 2015 at the University of Virginia. The panel is about Collected Works (*gsung ‘bum*) in Tibetan Buddhism. We are particularly interested in discussing of the following questions: 1. What is the role of Collected Works in the creativity and innovation of Tibetan Buddhist tradition?

2. To what extent does Collected Works reflect the writers’ life stories or their intellectual framework?

3. How do the editors of Collected Works impact the formation of lineage identities in Tibetan Buddhism?

4. What is the role of *the literary* (ex. different types of literature/genre) in Tibetan Buddhist Collected Works?

If you are interested, please send 250 word abstracts to Gloria Chien at ic7e@virginia.edu by October 15th. Thanks.

Best,

Gloria
