An Intimate Look at an Intricate Craft
What is "bronze disease," and how is it treated? AsiaSociety.org's latest video is an absorbing look at the work of art conservator Leslie Gat, who both repaired and protected a host of artworks on display in Asia Society's exhibition Buddhist Art of Myanmar. Among her more interesting challenges, Gat explains, was maintaining the look these pieces had in their original contexts.

Speaking at an Asia Society report launch in San Francisco, former U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu described how differences in U.S. and Chinese political structures have given China a certain lead in carrying out sweeping plans for clean energy—and also said that being the first scientist to hold a Cabinet position made him "the Jackie Robinson of nerds."
