Searching for translators of Chinese Buddhist texts
Dear Colleagues in Buddhist StudiesWe are in search of translators for two texts for the ongoing English Translation of the Chinese Tripitaka project, sponsored by Society for Promotion of Buddhism (BDK):
1) 『達磨多羅禅経』 (Dharmatara-dhyāna-sūtra) Taisho No. 618 (25 Taisho
pages)
2) 『那先比丘経』 (*Nāgasena-bhikṣu-sūtra)) Taisho No. 1670 (16 Taisho
pages)
Our translation fee is U.S.$350 per Taisho page ($250 paid when the manuscript is accepted and the remaining $100 when the text is published). Ideally, we wish the translation to be completed within 5 years.

Conference
on Sutra Transmission and Translation
June
15-June 18, 2016, Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China
The
Woodenfish Foundation and the Dunhuang Research Institute are pleased to
announce the conference on “Sutra Transmission and Translation” that will be
held Wednesday, June 15 – Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Dunhuang, Gansu Province,
China. The conference is hosted in honor of Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo
Guang Shan; Stanley Weinstein, Professor Emeritus at Yale University; and Lewis
Lancaster, Professor Emeritus at UC Berkeley, for their great contributions to
Buddhism, and will also recognize the retired professors who are attending the
conference for their contributions to Buddhist studies.
The
conference will feature eight panel sessions as well as tours of the Mogao
Caves at Dunhuang, and the Yulin Caves. Over fifty international and Chinese
scholars are expected to participate in the panels, roundtable discussions, and
paper presentations.
In
addition to a number of invited scholars, we are opening the conference to
other scholars and PhD students who may attend as observers.
While
they must pay for their own travel, room and board will be offered for up to 20
observer attendees.
