activities in the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago, based on
interactions with businessmen and others in the country during my just
completed trip to the country. The article examines the significant and
growing activities by Chinese companies in the construction, petroleum,
telecommunications and other sectors, as well arms purchases from the PRC,
other aspects of the military relationship, and the deepening political
relationship by the current PNM government of Keith Rowley, including signing
onto the PRC Belt and Road initiative last year.
