Afghanistan's
National Security Advisor on the U.S., Pakistan, and More
Hamdullah
Mohib, national security
advisor of Afghanistan, delivered an address at Asia Society on Monday
and participated in a wide-ranging conversation about his country with Barnett Rubin,
an Afghanistan expert at New York University.
Mohib disputed the notion that the current conflict in
Afghanistan, which began following the September 11, 2001 attacks, is
the longest war in American history. "Characterizing it as an
American war does a disservice to the sacrifices made by Afghans,"
he said.
