CALL FOR
SUBMISSIONS> International Society for Buddhist Philosophy, Central APA
panels
by Leah Kalmanson
The International Society for Buddhist Philosophy seeks submissions on the theme "Intra-Buddhist Dialogue" for a session at the 2020 Central APA (Chicago, Feb. 26-29). We encourage individual presentations or panel proposals on topics that involve two or more of the major Buddhist traditions (e.g., Theravāda, Mahāyāna), and/or schools that fall within these (e.g., Ch’an, Madhyamaka, Yogācāra), and/or contemporary Buddhist movements (engaged Buddhism, critical Buddhism, etc.).Topics might include issues that have been important to intra-Buddhist dialogue historically (e.g., debates over sudden enlightenment, or approaches to Pure Land practices) as well as new comparative philosophical work that is grounded in different Buddhist perspectives. Please send submissions to Douglas Duckworth (duckworth@temple.edu) and Leah Kalmanson (leah.kalmanson@drake.edu) by Thursday, August 1.
