I am pleased to announce that the new volume of The Silk
Road, the annual journal of The Silkroad Foundation, is now available on-line
at:
There you will find a link to the complete file in pdf
format:
and to pdf files of each individual article.
This volume of The Silk Road ranges over much of Eurasia,
with articles on 1st millenium seals from Iran, on shoes in medieval Korean
graves, on a Yuan era Chinese painting of Mani’s birth… Read about the latest
excavations of a Khitan town in Mongolia, about the origins of lacquerware
found in an elite Xiongnu tomb, and on recent archaeological survey in
northwestern Iran. There are two articles with different interpretations of the
location of Ptolemy’s famous “Stone Tower”, and a report on newly discovered
letters from Sven Hedin to Ferdinand von Richthofen. And more… including a good many book reviews and abundant
illustrations of historic sites and artefacts.
Please remember that we cannot accept subscriptions for
the limited print version of the journal which is sent gratis to academic
libraries, those mailings to take place some time within the next month. If any libraries wish to be added to the
mailing list, they should send me a request and provide the institutional
mailing address. I can also send a
fairly complete set of back issues.
Submissions for future volumes of the journal and
inquiries should be sent to me.
