The Institute for the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia (IKGA) of the
Austrian Academy of Sciences seeks to fill a full-time position for a research associate in the area of "Buddhist Transmission in China" with a starting date of 1 June 2019. In addition to conducting their own research on the transmission of Buddhism in China using historical-philological methods, the successful applicant is expected to collaborate in editorial projects within the institute’s long-term focus “Sanskrit texts from Tibet”. Small administrative duties may also occur. A PhD in Buddhist Studies, Chinese Studies or a related field is required. Familiarity with one or more languages of the transmission of Indian Buddhism is expected; familiarity with classical Tibetan is desired.
