Statement of
Purpose:
This
Unit is committed to the study of the diversity of religious traditions
associated with Confucius and his followers, including areas where Confucian
thought and practice intersect with those of other traditions. The Unit
embraces historical, philosophical, and dialogical approaches, and is not
located in any single country or discipline.
Call for
Papers:
We
welcome full panel proposals and individual paper submissions on the following
themes for 2019.

State representations of Confucianism
●
Contemporary issues that shape our scholarship on Confucianism in earlier
historical periods
●
Translation workshop on a primary text
●
Confucian cult devotion
●
Confucianism and animals
●
Discussions about a recent book on Confucianism
Other
topics are also welcome, as are co-sponsored sessions with other Units.

Proposer names
are visible to chairs but anonymous to steering committee members
Comments:
We encourage
authors of high quality individual paper proposals that are not accepted this
year to consider submitting panel proposals on the topics.
