U.S.-CHINA RELATIONS

How the U.S. Should Deal With a Changing China

Two years into Donald Trump's turbulent presidency, a new report published by the Task Force on U.S.-China Policy takes the temperature of the world’s most important bilateral relationship. The authors argue that China’s increasing assertiveness under Xi Jinping merits a fresh American strategy — but the Trump administration’s obsession with the trade deficit isn’t quite it. They also lay out a comprehensive set of recommendations for how the U.S. should approach China going forward.

Download the report and read an interview with Asia Society's Orville Schell, a co-chair of the Task Force. And here are the report's key takeaways.
