Dear reader,
Welcome to International Politics and Society!
In 1919, the International
Labour Organization (ILO) was founded to set international labour standards
and promote social protection. As the organisation turns 100 this year,
Thorben Albrecht, a member of its Commission on the Future of Work, spoke to
us about the way in which the ILO can promote social justice in a globalised world of
work.
Thorben Albrecht highlights
that the world of work will be changing due to digital technologies, new
patterns of globalisation and evolving preferences of workers. That's why, as
Bruno Dobrusin argues, organised labour needs a new strategy – and a better
narrative.
