	Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with  Director General of International  Vaccine Institute (IVI) Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha met with Director General  of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Jerome Kim on June 12, and  listened to IVI’s accomplishments and COVID-19-related activities. Minister Kang  said that considering the growing international awareness of the importance of tackling  and preventing infectious diseases due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year,  IVI’s role as an international organization with expertise and in pursuit of the  public interest has become all the more important. Minister Kang and  Director General Kim, sharing the view that the development and distribution  of vaccines is essential in responding to infectious diseases, a common threat  to mankind, agreed to continue close cooperation. Telephone Conversation between Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of ASEAN Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a  telephone conversation with Secretary-General of  ASEAN Lim Jock Hoi on June 15 and discussed the  two sides’ responses to the COVID-19 pandemic,  the project to support the fight against the COVID-19 crisis. Telephone Conversation between ROK Minister of   Foreign Affairs and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a telephone   with Ms. Raychelle Omamo, Cabinet Secretary for  Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, on June 15  and exchanged views on response to COVID-19.  Cabinet Secretary Omamo extended appreciation to the  ROK government and private sector for their timely provision  of quarantine equipment. Telephone Conversation between Foreign Ministers of  ROK and Ethiopia Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a telephone  conversation with Mr. Gedu Andargachew, Minister of Foreign  Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, on June  12 at the latter’s request and exchanged views on response  to COVID-19 and the way forward for the relations  between the Republic of Korea and Ethiopia. Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Discusses   Ways to Strengthen Cooperation between ROK and UAE Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Kim Gunn,  who visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE), discussed with   the UAE side on June 14 the fast-track scheme between the  Republic of Korea and the UAE and ways to better protect  Korean nationals in the UAE amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
