Can Chinese Philanthropy Alleviate Global Poverty?

An explosion of wealth creation in China has had a profound impact on the global economy, not least in the area of philanthropy. A new study by the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), with support from the Rockefeller Foundation, considers how Chinese giving can be deployed to address a number of global challenges.
Last week, Asia Society New York welcomed Rajiv Shah, Kevin Teo, Rujing Gong, and Susan Yuqing Feng to our stage to discuss the AVPN report and the broader potential of Chinese philanthropy.

The Iran Conundrum

Frank G. Wisner, a former U.S. Ambassador to Zambia, Egypt, the Philippines, and India, and Srinath Raghavan, a fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, dropped by Asia Society India to discuss the current state of the complex relationship between Iran, India, and the United States, one undergoing turbulence under President Donald Trump’s administration.
