Minister of Foreign Affairs Delivers
Remarks at Video Conference of
World Economic Forum
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha attended the World Economic
Forum (WEF)’s video conference on the “COVID Action Platform” on March 25.
Under the theme of “World Update,” Minister Kang explained as follows the
current situation in the Republic of Korea (ROK), which has overcome the initial
serious phase and has been making efforts to normalize the situation.
Chancellor of Austria Kurz explained the current situation of Austria,
which is relatively at an early stage. In particular, among the speakers,
the Director-General of the WHO and the CEO of CEPI noted that the ROK
is serving as an exemplary case for other countries.
Outcome of Teleconference on COVID-19 Response
between Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho and
his Counterparts
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Sei-young had a
multilateral
with his counterparts of countries in the region on
March 27.
The teleconference was joined by vice foreign ministers of
countries; the Republic of Korea, the United States,
Japan,
the Commonwealth of Australia, New Zealand, the
Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and the Republic of India.
Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Meets with
Chinese Ambassador to ROK Xing Haiming
Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Kim Gunn met with Ambassado
r
of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of
Korea Xing Haiming at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
on the afternoon of March 27, and discussed China’s
entry restriction announced on March 26.
Consultation between ROK and Japanese
Directors-General (Video Call)
Mr. Kim Jung-han, Director-General for Asian and Pacific Affairs
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had a consultation
with Mr. Shigeki Takizaki, Director-General of the Asian and
Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Japan, on the afternoon of April 1 in the form of video call,
and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
MOFA Spokesperson’s Statement
The government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) welcomes
and supports the “Democratic Transition Framework for Venezuela”
proposed by the United States government on March 31, 2020,
in order to resolve the crisis in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
