The 2011 AABS

The 2011 AABS conference will be held in conjunction with the New ZealandAssociation for the Study of Religions <http://www.nzasr.ac.nz/> (NZASR)Conference from December 7, 2011 - December 9, 2011 at the MercureQueenstown Resort, Queenstown, New Zealand. The conference is to be hostedby the Department of Theology and Religion<http://www.otago.ac.nz/religion/> at the University of Otago.
We would like to invite AABS members, and interested scholars generally, topresent their latest research and enjoy the opportunity to exchangeinformation and ideas with their colleagues. Please also encourage and, ifpossible, make arrangements for your postgraduate students to participate.
Call for Papers
The conference will consist of two parallel streams of plenary lectures andpanel discussions. For the AABS stream contributions are welcome from allacademic perspectives of Buddhist studies including textual studies,history, sociology, religious studies, cultural studies, psychology, music,performance and art history
Speakers in both conference streams have 30 minutes, approximately 20minutes to deliver their paper and the remainder for questions anddiscussion. Postgraduates are particularly welcome to submit papers foreither conference stream
Calls for papers and proposals for panel discussions (3 papers) for bothAABS and NZASR streams can be found at http://www.nzasr.ac.nz/conference/.The call for papers will close on 31 October 2011.
Post Graduate Sponsorships
AABS will offer up to 4 post graduate sponsorships of $500 each to assistAustralian based post graduate students with travel and accommodationexpenses.
Sponsorship will be awarded competitively based upon the submission of draftpaper. Candidates must submit full papers by 31st October. The AABSExecutive committee will assess the applications over the following 2 weeks.The winners will be notified by 15th November.
