Nikkei Asian Review's most read stories of 2019

Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn, who completed his coronation
 rituals in December, generated many headlines in 2019. In May, 
 the king married the deputy chief of his personal guard,
 and in October, he stripped his consort of her royal and military
 titles. Both of these stories were among our most popular 
this year.

The ongoing unrest in Hong Kong also attracted much reader attention. 
And a story about Japan's hidden diamonds surprised many. These were
 our most read stories of 2019.
