BOOK> Japanese Buddhist Pilgrimage

Dear Colleagues,

I am very happy to say that, after many years of work and delays, my book "Japanese Buddhist Pilgrimage" is at last in print.

Although the theme is quite specific, this book also seeks to make a contribution to the wider theory of pilgrimage, both in a general introduction and in the overall argument. For example, Buddhist pilgrimages are set against Shinto imitations, with an exploration of divergent meanings.

So I do hope that some of you will be able to recommend it for libraries or seminar work. There is a hardback - good for libraries - and a very moderately priced paperback.

You can find full details on the excellent website of Equinox Publications at:

with warm wishes all round,
Michael Pye
