In typical election-year fashion, the candidates for the American presidency have had little nice to say about China. But if the Chinese themselves had a vote in the contest, who would they choose? To get a glimpse, Asia Blog collected opinions from around China’s internet and media. These range from praise for Bernie Sanders’ “socialist nature” to acknowledgment that Donald Trump “dares to speak what other politicians can’t and won’t.”

The Asia Society Policy Institute has published a new report calling for India’s inclusion in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. At an event launching the report in Washington, D.C, India’s Ambassador to the United States Arun Kumar Singh noted that “for APEC to fully realize its potential in the Asia-Pacific and the world at large, it needs to reflect 21st century realities. This would entail inclusion of economies such as India, given their economic size and potential.”
