on behalf of a colleague who is not on h-net I would like to draw your attention to a PhD-fellowship announced at the Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society for a PhD candidate who will "conduct research on the changing media landscapes in Myanmar and its effects on Buddhist monastic authority, styles of communication and forms of transnational engagement" as part of the project INTERSECT (Intersecting Flows of Islamophobia), led by Associate Professor Dr. Iselin Frydenlund. Please join us for the 2019 Ryukoku Lectures Series at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley.
The lecture series will be delivered by Dr. Yukio Hayashi, Department of History, Ryukoku University. He is a specialist of Buddhist history, particularly Southeast Asian Theravada Buddhism.

The World of Theravadins: Tradition and Transition from Field Observation since 1981

Both Lectures are free and open to the public. Lectures are in Japanese with English translation by Rev. Dr. Mutsumi Wondra.
