Why Wendy Cutler Thinks the U.S. Won't Place Additional Tariffs on Chinese Goods

Following his appearance the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, President Trump announced that he would delay imposing sanctions on $200 billion of Chinese goods, postponing a decision on what to do about Chinese tariffs until March. Will the tariffs go forward? Asia Society Policy Institute Vice President Wendy Cutler, a career trade negotiator, doesn't think so.

In a speech delivered at the Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit in Manila last month, Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo described how her husband's death in a car accident propelled her into politics, how she manages to work with a president from a different political party, and why young people "find ways to do things better, faster, and with more heart." Following her remarks, Robredo engaged in a discussion with Asia 21 Young Leader Timothy Graham Watts, a member of parliament from Australia.
