CFP> AAR 2016, Sacred Spaces and Material Culture in East Asian Buddhism: New Research and Approaches

Dear colleagues,
Following up on the suggested panel topic for the Buddhism Section of the American Academy of Religion, we would like to invite participants for a proposed panel on "Sacred Spaces and Material Culture in East Asian Buddhism: New Research and Approaches" for this year's annual meeting in San Antonio. We are especially interested in hearing from scholars who would present on Buddhist traditions from outside China so that we can build as diverse and inclusive a panel as possible.
If you're interested in participating, please get in touch with me at gregory.scott@ed.ac.uk with a paper title and description.

NEW BOOK > Reading Buddhist Sanskrit Texts: An Elementary Grammatical Guide (3rd edition)

The Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong is happy to announce the publication of Reading Buddhist Sanskrit Texts: An Elementary Grammatical Guide (3rd edition).
Published earlier last year, this third edition continues to provide students with an elementary manual totally based on Buddhist Sanskrit texts. Illustrations of Sanskrit grammar points are drawn from Buddhist sources, and exercises are drawn from texts like Aṣṭa-sāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā, Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā, etc. The thirteen lessons are each appended with footnotes providing references to available corresponding passages across different canonical records. A Sanskrit text of Vajraccedikā, based on L. Vaidya’s Devanāgarī edition as well as E. Conze’s romanized edition, is translated at the end of the volume. This present edition has further corrected several of the typos and other lapses in previous editions.
