ASIAN SPORTING UNICORN ONE CHAMPIONSHIP PLOTS GLOBAL DOMINATION

Some readers may have zero interest in
martial arts. Some may even actively dislike it.
If this sounds like you, and you know what this
week's cover story is about: don't worry.
It is a serious business piece about one of
Asia's fastest-growing unicorns and its strong leader.

The company -- One Championship -- is a
 Singapore-based mixed martial arts (MMA)
promoter. Think of it as the Asian equivalent
of the U.S.-based Ultimate Fighting Championship
(UFC). Millennials and Gen-Zers, mostly in Asia,
ggest the market will only get bigger. With over
$1 billion in funding from such influential investors
as Sequoia Capital and Temasek Holdings,
One is turning a lot of heads in the financial industry.

Its founder and leader, Chatri Sityodtong, might
literally be the strongest CEO in the world.
The Harvard MBA is a full-time martial artist
himself. His is an amazing success story that is
 still unfolding.

We bring you two must-read interviews this week,
one with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the
other with Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

Zuckerberg appears to have learned lessons from the
outrage and distrust caused by the Cambridge
Analytica d
ata leak and the spread of "fake news." In the interview, Zuckerberg says the approach he takes today is
very different from the one he would have taken
 five years ago.

Google chief Pichai also offered some interesting
insights. When asked about the new operating
system developed by Huawei, Pichai answered,
"We all have to adjust to the realities of the trade
 situation and work accordingly."
He also shared his thoughts on regulations on privacy, monopolies and artificial intelligence. A t
ruly don't-miss read.

For your weekend reading, I recommend our
offers a tantalizing glimpse of the region's
beautiful mountainous countryside.
