Toyota and Canon among companies freeing patent to fight virus

TOKYO -- About 20 Japanese companies, including Toyot Motor 
and Canon, will release patents 
and other intellectual property 
for free to help fight the new coronavirus, Nikkei has learned.

The goal is to make it easier for businesses and researchers to 
develop medical tools and
 technologies capable of r
esolving the crisis before it 
 takes an even bigger global 
health and economic toll.
