by Joy Brennan
Dear Colleagues,

We write to let you know of the Yogācāra Studies Unit's panels and other events at the upcoming AAR meeting to be held in Denver, CO from November 17-20, 2018. Be sure to read to the bottom to find out about our *first annual* Yogācāra Happy Hour, generously sponsored by the Mangalam Research Center for Buddhist Languages, and our *new* Facebook page.

Panels
1) "Exploring Yogācāra in the Laṅkāvatārasūtra", our text panel, will be held Saturday from 3:30-5 in Convention Center-Mile High 1A (Lower Level).

2) Our roundtable discussion on The Mind Illuminated: A Complete Meditation Guide Integrating Buddhist Wisdom and Brain Science for Greater Mindfulness by Culadasa John Yates will be held Sunday from 3:30 PM-5:00 PM in Convention Center-Mile High 1F (Lower Level). *In advance: We strongly encourage attendees to read the book beforehand for a productive roundtable discussion.

3) "Silla Contributions to Yogācāra Studies", co-sponsored with the Korean Religions Unit, will be held Sunday from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM in Convention Center-Mile High 1B (Lower Level).

4) "Yoga in India and China", sponsored with four other units, will be held Saturday from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM in the Hyatt Regency-Centennial G (Third Level).

Other Events
1) The Unit's Business Meeting will be held immediately following the Saturday afternoon text panel (#1 above). During this Meeting we will present the results of the survey we sent out last month and talk about future directions of our Unit. We encourage anyone interested in the work of our Unit to attend.

2) New! We are holding a Yogācāra Happy Hour, an informal networking and social event for anyone interested in Yogācāra, from any career stage or discipline, immediately following the last panel (#4 above) on Saturday evening around 7:30 pm - 9:30pm. The Mangalam Research Center has generously offered to sponsor us so that we may provide 1 complementary beer or wine beverage to early arrivals to the Happy Hour. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for event location, which will also be announced at the Business Meeting.

3) New! Like us on Facebook to follow conference events, CFPs, and Yogācāra related news and publications, during the conference and throughout the year: https://www.facebook.com/yogacarastudies/
